After an eight-game absence, Kristaps Porzingis made a powerful return for the Boston Celtics, leading the team with 24 points in a thrilling 115-113 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night.
Porzingis Opens Up About His Mysterious Illness
The Celtics big man had been sidelined with a debilitating viral illness that left him fatigued and frustrated. Speaking to reporters, Porzingis revealed:
“It was extremely, extremely frustrating not knowing what I had. … I haven’t been this sick, probably ever, in my life.”
Earlier in the week, he addressed fan concerns on social media, explaining why his recovery took longer than expected.
“I saw on social media — people want to know what’s going on, why I’m out for so long. … I just wanted to let people know I was really dealing with something. I would never sit out for a cough or something.”
Celtics Eye Another Title Run
The Celtics clinched a playoff spot on Friday, just before Porzingis' return. His presence on the court will be a game-changer as Boston aims for back-to-back championships. With head coach Joe Mazzulla managing his minutes, the Celtics hope to keep their X-factor fresh for a deep postseason run.
