Lexi Minetree Cast as Young Elle Woods in Legally Blonde Prequel – Reese Witherspoon Makes the Big Reveal!
Fans of Legally Blonde have been eagerly awaiting updates on the prequel series, and now we finally have some exciting news—Amazon Prime Video has found its young Elle Woods! Actress Lexi Minetree has officially been cast as the teenage version of the beloved character in the upcoming series, Elle.
Reese Witherspoon Reveals the Big News
The announcement came straight from the original Elle Woods herself, Reese Witherspoon, who took to Instagram to share the emotional moment she told Minetree the life-changing news.
“Allow me to introduce you to the new Elle Woods!” Witherspoon wrote. “After watching so many incredible auditions for the new Elle prequel series on @PrimeVideo, we finally found our Elle. And today, I got to break the news myself! Meet @leximinetree.”
In a heartwarming video, Witherspoon can be seen pacing excitedly before bringing Minetree into the room. The young actress had no idea what was coming. Witherspoon then sat her down and delivered the incredible news:
“We had to make a really hard decision the other day, and we wanted to tell you in person because you’ve just worked really hard… and we just wanted to tell you that you don’t have to audition anymore because you got the part.”
Overcome with emotion, Minetree burst into tears before hugging Witherspoon and excitedly calling her mom to share the news.
Who is Lexi Minetree?
If Minetree’s name isn’t familiar to you yet, it soon will be. While this will be her first major lead role, she has already made a mark in Hollywood with appearances in popular TV shows and movies, including:
✔️ Law & Order: SVU
✔️ The Murdaugh Murders
✔️ Crowdsource Murder
✔️ The Paramedic Who Stalked Me
Minetree is represented by Stewart Talent, Framework Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
What We Know About Elle
Amazon greenlit Elle back in May 2024, and the series will explore Elle Woods’ high school years, giving fans a glimpse into the life experiences that shaped her into the confident, pink-loving, law-school-bound woman we know and love.
The show is created by Laura Kittrell, who serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon will also be involved as an executive producer through her media company, Hello Sunshine, along with Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt.
Amazon MGM Studios is producing the series, which is expected to capture Elle’s signature charm, intelligence, and determination.
The Legally Blonde Legacy
It’s been over two decades since Reese Witherspoon first brought Elle Woods to life in Legally Blonde (2001), which was based on Amanda Brown’s novel. The film became an instant classic, grossing over $140 million worldwide and spawning multiple sequels and adaptations, including:
🎬 Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003)
📀 Legally Blondes (2009, direct-to-video spinoff)
🎠Legally Blonde: The Musical (2007, Broadway debut)
A third mainline film, Legally Blonde 3, has been in development for years, with Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor working on the script. While updates on that project remain scarce, Elle will offer fans a fresh look at Elle Woods’ journey.
What’s Next?
The Legally Blonde prequel is set to premiere on Prime Video, though a release date has not yet been announced.
With Reese Witherspoon’s blessing and Lexi Minetree stepping into Elle’s signature pink outfits, fans are already buzzing with excitement. Can Minetree bring the same bubbly energy and determination that made Elle Woods an icon? If Witherspoon’s reaction is anything to go by, the answer is a resounding “YES!”
Stay tuned for more updates on Elle! 💖
