Matthew Rhys stars as the mayor in Apple TV+ mystery series “Widow’s Bay,” set on a cursed New England island.

Matthew Rhys is stepping into another thrilling TV role! The Emmy-winning actor has signed on as the lead in Apple TV+’s upcoming mystery series “Widow’s Bay.”

The show, which was greenlit for 10 episodes, is set on a cursed New England island where superstitions run deep. Rhys will play the stubborn mayor who refuses to believe in the island’s eerie legends—until things start to spiral out of control.

This marks yet another major streaming project for Rhys. He recently wrapped Netflix’s “The Beast in Me” alongside Claire Danes and will co-star with John Krasinski in Amazon Prime Video’s serial killer drama “Silent River.” He’s also set to appear in the BBC1 adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “Towards Zero.”

Of course, fans still remember Rhys best from his gripping performance in FX’s “The Americans,” which won him an Emmy in 2018. He also led HBO’s “Perry Mason” and starred in hit films like The Post and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.

“Widow’s Bay” is created by Katie Dippold (Ghostbusters), with Hiro Murai (Atlanta) directing the pilot. Rhys isn’t just starring—he’s also an executive producer!

With mystery, superstition, and a powerhouse cast, “Widow’s Bay” is shaping up to be a must-watch. Will you be tuning in? Let us know in the comments! 👀🍎🔮
