Ryan Reynolds Defends Jamie Lee Curtis After Marvel Backlash

Ryan Reynolds has stepped in to defend Jamie Lee Curtis following her controversial comments about Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Curtis, who shined in the Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once, made some humorous yet critical comparisons between the two films during an MTV interview.

She jokingly pointed out that Doctor Strange lacked certain unique elements, quipping about the absence of “a dynamite dildo fight scene as well as a very erotic hotdog hand-mating dance.” Curtis went on to laud her film for its “deep BEATING heart, BRILLIANT visual treats, EXTRAORDINARY performances, and FANTASTIC BEASTLY FIGHT SCENES… all achieved with a budget less than the craft service budget of a Marvel movie.”

The Backlash

Marvel fans didn't take too kindly to Curtis’s comments. Social media platforms were soon flooded with critical responses from loyal fans, prompting Curtis to issue an apology earlier today.

Ryan Reynolds to the Rescue

In a surprising twist, Ryan Reynolds, Marvel's very own Deadpool, chimed in with a tweet that quickly captured everyone's attention. Reynolds questioned why there should be apologies for having critical opinions about Marvel films post-Endgame. He tweeted, “Wait, is everyone expected to apologize for slamming Marvel post-Endgame?”

A Call for Open Discourse

Reynolds’s tweet aimed to deflect some of the backlash directed at Curtis, suggesting that it's okay to have differing opinions. His intervention sheds light on the passionate loyalty of Marvel fans and the sensitivity surrounding critiques of the franchise.
