Love Island USA Execs Hold Crisis Meeting After Cierra Ortega's Racist Post Resurfaces
Love Island USA Season 7 has hit a major controversy, as contestant Cierra Ortega is facing intense backlash over a resurfaced Instagram Story containing a racist slur toward East Asians. The post, made before she joined the villa, has gone viral — prompting calls from fans and insiders for her immediate removal from the show.
The post in question included a selfie in which Cierra described getting Botox, but also used a racial slur while referring to her facial expression when smiling. The backlash was swift, with Cierra reportedly losing over 120,000 Instagram followers in 24 hours.
According to The U.S. Sun, Love Island USA production staff are “furious” and held a crisis meeting to discuss Cierra’s future on the show. One insider said, “This kind of word is unacceptable. Everyone is very, very bothered and pissed about that.”
The same source revealed that Cierra’s situation mirrors a previous incident with islander Yulissa, who was removed from the villa earlier this season for similar offenses. Many within the production reportedly feel Cierra should face the same consequences.
“She made a massive, massive mistake that will follow her for a long time now,” said another source. “Everyone is in shock — from the crew to cast to executives.”
Cierra has been a core Islander this season, coupled up with Nic Vansteenberghe. But now, her future on the show hangs in the balance as Love Island USA navigates yet another controversy.
