In a shocking twist, Blake Lively reportedly filed a "super shady" lawsuit months before publicly accusing her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment.
According to the Daily Mail, the lawsuit — filed in September 2024 by Lively’s company, Vanzan — aimed to subpoena incriminating text messages from Baldoni’s former PR team without revealing her name. The goal? To collect evidence before going public.
The subpoena targeted communications between Baldoni’s ex-publicist Stephanie Jones, her firm Jonesworks, and crisis PR manager Melissa Nathan. These messages now form the foundation of Lively’s claims that Baldoni and his team orchestrated a smear campaign against her.
One alleged message even stated: "We can bury anyone."
The lawsuit was quietly withdrawn on Dec. 19, 2024, just days before Lively filed a formal harassment complaint with California’s Civil Rights Department.
Baldoni’s legal team has fired back, calling the move a “sham” and an abuse of the legal process. Attorney Bryan Freedman slammed the case, accusing Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ company of “bad faith” actions designed to avoid legal scrutiny.
However, Lively’s attorneys argue the tactic was legal and necessary, saying:
“This lawsuit unearthed the Wayfarer Parties’ plan to ‘destroy’ Blake Lively... in their own words.”
Lively officially filed her harassment lawsuit on Dec. 31, 2024. In response, Baldoni launched a $400 million defamation countersuit in January 2025. The legal drama between the two stars is far from over.
Stay tuned as this Hollywood courtroom battle continues to unfold.
