A tragic turn of events unfolded in New Orleans as authorities arrested Danette Colbert in connection with the death of Adan Manzano, a sports reporter covering Super Bowl 59.
Suspect Caught Using Victim’s Credit Card
Manzano was found unresponsive in his Kenner Comfort Suites hotel room. Surveillance footage showed Colbert with him on Wednesday night, later leaving his room alone. Authorities later discovered Colbert using Manzano’s credit card across multiple locations in the New Orleans area.
Although Colbert has not been charged with his death, she has been booked on fraud and theft-related offenses. Police also found drugs, a stolen gun, and Manzano’s belongings at Colbert’s residence.
A History of Targeting Victims
Colbert has a history of drugging men and stealing money, watches, and casino chips. In Las Vegas, she was previously accused of drugging and robbing multiple victims, but prosecutors declined to pursue charges.
Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley described her as a "career criminal", warning people to stay vigilant about their surroundings.
Remembering Adan Manzano
Manzano, a beloved sports journalist for Tico Sports and Telemundo Kansas City, was known for his passion and professionalism. His employers honored him in a heartfelt statement:
"Adan was a devoted father, a helpful colleague, and a loyal friend. He will be greatly missed by our TICO Family and will live on in our hearts and memories."
As the investigation continues, more charges may follow. Stay tuned for updates.
