Cam Newton Calls on Lil Wayne to Mediate Kendrick Lamar and Drake Feud

Cam Newton proposes Lil Wayne as mediator for Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s ongoing feud.

Cam Newton has stepped into the world of hip-hop with a surprising proposal: Lil Wayne should mediate the ongoing feud between rap giants Kendrick Lamar and Drake. In the latest episode of his podcast, 4th&1 with Cam Newton, the former NFL star shared his thoughts on the rivalry, emphasizing that only Lil Wayne could handle the situation with the respect it deserves.

“He won’t be able to do that with Dwayne Carter,” Newton said, referencing Lil Wayne by his real name. “I wanna see Lil’ Wayne step in... just for the appreciation of the art.”

Kendrick vs. Drake: A Growing Rift

The tension between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has been building for years, but things took a turn when Lamar released his surprise album GNX on November 22, 2024. The 12-track project included Waced Out Murals, a song with pointed lyrics referencing Lil Wayne:

“Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud.
Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.
Whatever, though, call me crazy, everybody questionable.”

This added fuel to the fire, especially with Lamar set to perform in Wayne’s hometown of New Orleans, an event Newton speculated might complicate Wayne's involvement in the feud.

Lil Wayne’s Super Bowl Snub

Adding another layer to the drama, Kendrick Lamar was announced as the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show headliner, sparking controversy. Artists like Nicki Minaj argued that Lil Wayne deserved the spot, given the event’s New Orleans location. Lil Wayne himself expressed disappointment in a heartfelt Instagram video, fueling fan debates about who truly deserved the honor.

Cam Newton’s Take

While Newton expressed respect for both Kendrick and Drake, he believes Drake might lack the lyrical depth to effectively take on Lamar. “Drake ain’t capable,” Newton claimed, emphasizing that a mediator like Lil Wayne is needed to preserve the artistry of hip-hop.

Whether or not Lil Wayne will step in remains to be seen, but Newton’s suggestion has certainly added a new twist to this unfolding rap drama.
