Glenn Ennis critiques fraudsters' fake bear costume used in failed insurance scam

Revenant’s Bear Actor Glenn Ennis Critiques Fraudsters' Failed Bear Costume Scam

Glenn Ennis, the stuntman who played the iconic bear that attacked Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant, recently took a swipe at some amateur fraudsters who staged a bear attack on luxury cars in California—and missed the mark by a mile.

According to TMZ, four residents of Los Angeles were charged with insurance fraud after they submitted videos supposedly showing a bear wreaking havoc on high-end vehicles. But when officials looked closer, they saw the “bear” was really a person in a low-quality costume, attempting to cash in $140,000 in insurance claims.

Ennis, who perfected bear movement through hours of research, laughed off the attempt, pointing out how fake it looked. “Bears don’t move on their knees,” he joked. Ennis explained that with a little practice, the fraudsters might have improved, but he’d never use his bear expertise for crime.

The scam didn’t fool authorities, and expert biologists confirmed the "bear" was no more realistic than a Halloween costume. The suspects now face serious legal trouble for their scheme.
