Liam Payne’s tragic death on October 16 has sent shockwaves through the entertainment world. The former One Direction star reportedly tried to escape his hotel room at the CasaSur Palermo in Buenos Aires via the balcony, but tragically fell to his death from the third-floor balcony. Newly released security footage shows three men helping Payne through the hotel lobby and toward his room, which has led authorities to believe he was attempting to find a way out.
A police report revealed disturbing details about the incident. A black New York Yankees cap and a Louis Vuitton bag were found near Payne’s body, items not seen on him earlier in the footage, suggesting he had put them on after returning to his room. Additionally, a hotel worker discovered a brown leather bag on the balcony below Payne’s room. Inside was a note labeled “For Liam,” along with various pills and a bottle of Jack Daniel’s. The bag is believed to have been dropped by Payne while he attempted to climb down to the second-floor balcony as part of his escape plan. Sadly, the plan failed, and Payne fell to his death.
This theory adds to previous reports that Payne had a history of using balconies to escape and had been involved in troubling behavior in the weeks leading up to his death. In September, his bodyguard had locked him in a Florida rental home out of concern for his drug use, but Payne later managed to escape by climbing down a balcony using a hose. Security footage from the Buenos Aires hotel further shows Payne convulsing in the lobby, likely due to drug use, before being helped back to his room by hotel staff.
Liam Payne’s death at the age of 31 remains a heartbreaking and mysterious loss for his fans and loved ones.
