Marvel Studios fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Blade, starring Mahershala Ali as the iconic vampire hunter, but recent delays have left many wondering about the film’s future. Originally set for a 2025 release, Blade was removed from Marvel's release calendar, fueling concerns that the project might be in trouble. However, studio president Kevin Feige reassured fans during the D23 Brazil 2024 event that the movie is still very much in the works.
Feige expressed full confidence in Ali’s performance, calling him the perfect fit for the role and emphasizing that Blade remains a top priority for Marvel. "We are committed to Blade," Feige stated, adding that the delays are simply a part of ensuring the film is the best it can be. With multiple setbacks—including changes in directors, with Bassam Tariq leaving in 2022 and Yann Demange stepping down in 2024, as well as numerous script rewrites—the film has faced its share of challenges. However, Feige made it clear that quality is the studio’s main focus.
Initially announced in July 2019, Blade has experienced a long road to the big screen, but Feige’s latest statement reassures fans that the character’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still in the cards. Although the release date has now been postponed and Predator: Badlands will take its place in November 2025, Feige’s comments show that Marvel isn’t rushing the process. "The most important thing for us is not rushing it and making sure we are making the right Blade movie," Feige emphasized.
So, while fans may have to wait a little longer, the Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali is definitely on its way, and Marvel Studios is working hard to bring the iconic character into the MCU the right way.
