Shakira, the iconic "Hips Don't Lie" singer, recently opened up about her journey through motherhood and maintaining a balance between her career and raising her two sons, Sasha and Milan. In a candid interview with Rolling Stone for their July/August cover story, the 47-year-old emphasized the importance of her role as a mother, which she describes as non-negotiable even as she continues to pursue her music career.

"When we're mothers, we never dial it down," Shakira shared. "We can keep working, but our commitment as mothers is nonnegotiable." She reflected on the challenges of achieving balance, admitting, "Sometimes achieving balance is difficult. How much time do you dedicate to yourself, to your work, to the children? But children always come first and what consumes us the most."

As a single parent co-parenting with ex Gerard Piqué, Shakira expressed how her perspective on motherhood has deepened. "I never had to rely on myself as much as I have fighting for my survival and the survival of my kids," she said. She acknowledged that her sons have witnessed her journey through its ups and downs, including moments of celebration, hard work, and vulnerability.

Shakira aims to teach her children important life lessons beyond the glamour often portrayed in movies. "I want to show them that life isn't linear," she explained. "Things don't turn out the way we want them to, and you have to deal with disappointment. That's part of the human condition. It's why we're here."

Through her openness about the realities of motherhood and life's unpredictability, Shakira continues to inspire many with her resilience and dedication to both her family and her career.
